eZgateway
The eZgateway is a web portal that utilizes a single universal login (Single Sign-on) providing access and interaction among the many applications. Because each user's password is stored centrally on the eZgateway, users maintain a single login and password for access to all of their web applications. The eZgateway infrastructure also provides a secure method in which applications, within the community, can be navigated. All access to other resources from eZgateway is based on user permissions. Based on these permissions, users of differing business levels might see different content even if clicking the same link.
The eZgateway will be the single entrance to a repository of web applications. These
applications will be listed once a user is properly logged into the eZgateway - a
link to each application opens up in its own new window in its respective web browser.
The application will be active - since login information will carry over, so there
is no need for a secondary login process. Multiple applications (and browser windows)
can be opened up simultaneously. When users are logged in - they have the option of
gaining access to informational (documentation) or actionable (applications) items.
Real time example: An individual opens a browser window on his laptop and enters the
web address of The eZgateway in the top address bar. He hits the enter key on his
keyboard to go to this address which presents the Gateway login window. In the login
fields he types in his email address and he types in his password in the next field
below this.
He is then presented with a page that has a display of multiple navigation resources to choose. Based on the
user's permission level he is directed to specific locations when he clicks one of
the links offered. He may also see the eZgateway Admin link if he is assigned this
level of permission. Each application that can be accessed will have navigation back
to the eZgateway and to other applications offered to user.
First time eZgateway users may need to create their password by clicking the link
beneath the login fields, 'I need assistance with logging in'. On the next page they
will enter their email address. They will then receive an email with a link to the
page where they enter their password. This process is also used for those who need
a new password or can't remember their password. This password works immediately and a new entry sends users into the site immediately.
Many companies/corporations may have web applications residing on different servers that require separate and secure logins. The current process makes it difficult to maintain cohesiveness as users move from one application to another while attempting to share data between multiple databases, all while being logged in to multiple servers and applications. eZgateway saves time and money by offering Single Sign-on technology.
